How do Klamath dams impact commercial fishermen?
As with the Sacramento, Klamath salmon runs are used by federal managers to set fishing limits for commercial fishermen from southern California to northern Oregon. In 2006, the Klamath's record low Chinook salmon populations shut down the commercial fishery and put thousands of fishermen out of work, devastated coastal economies, and cost taxpayers millions in disaster relief. Aaron Longton, a commercial fishermen from Port Orford, Oregon says, "Let's un-dam the Klamath, so we can get back to work."
The Klamath dams and other fish habitat problems have pushed the West Coast salmon industry to the brink of total collapse. Let's do the right thing for our fishermen, and our investments, and remove the Klamath dams.
Klamath dam removal is supported by the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's Associations.
